Jeff Sorley has been drawing since, quite possibly, his first memory: coming home from The Empire Strikes Back and drawing TIE fighters attacking an AT-AT on the back of a cardboard box.
Since then, he has been in and out of the graphic design and illustration industry. Since creating the character, for more than 30 years he has been the artist behind the smoking pope of Chicago band the Smoking Popes. He has drawn and created layouts for album covers for bands such as Off With Their Heads, The Usuals, and Grim Deeds. During the early 2000s he also had a mildly successful (and mildly humorous) daily comic strip with Too Bloody Drunk, which appeared in the pages of the University of Wisconsin's independent student newspaper The Badger Herald; even more notable as he was never actually a student of the university.
While Jeff predominantly leans towards 80s-90s mecha anime, he also enjoys pop-culture references in his art; the more obscure, the better. Some of his best selling pieces are a series of art inspired by the 1985 comedy Real Genius.
